Enjoy the rocky landscape and experience Authentic “Africa

Starting in the Upper East regional capital of Bolgatanga, we cycle south to the village of Tongo, set deep in the enigmatic Tengzug Hills. Surrounded by unique rock formations and dozens of traditional farming hamlets, Tongo is our base for a walking expedition to some the area’s many traditional shrines.

These shrines are said to have great healing powers for visitors, and this is a corner of Ghana where the secrets and dictates of African Traditional Religion are taken very seriously.

In addition to the Tengzug shrines, we’ll visit a cave once used as the village school, and there’s plenty of opportunity to soak up the vistas and snap some pictures from the scenic hilltops and village paths crisscrossing this unique region of Ghana. After making our way back to Tongo on foot, we’ll hop back on our bicycles for the return journey to Bolgatanga.
