The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient site of unparalleled beauty! An architecture wonder of the world heritage recognized by Unesco. The Acropolis of Athens and its monuments are universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization and form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world. The Athenian statesman Pericles and, under the inspired guidance of the sculptor Pheidias, transformed the rocky hill into a unique monument of thought and the arts. The most important monuments were built during that time: the Parthenon, built by Ictinus, the Erechtheon, the Propylaea, the monumental entrance to the Acropolis, designed by Mnesicles and the small temple Athena Nike.

Our second stop is at the Acropolis Museum. A unique archaeological specific museum, housing more than 3.000 famous artefacts from the Athenian Acropolis, the most significant sanctuary of the ancient city. The tailor made museum building has extensive use of glass that ensures amazing and continuous views of the Acropolis and the surrounding historic hills. You have immediate views of the archaeological excavation that lies below the Museum, which is visible through the glass floor.

The changing of the natural light allows the visitors to discover the delicate surface of the sculptures and select the point from which to observe the exhibits. There is also an archaeological excavation directly beneath the Museum that provides the opportunity to visitors to appreciate the masterpieces of the Acropolis in the Museum and at the same time the remains of the day to day lives of the people that lived in the shadow of the Acropolis over various periods.
