The Athens sightseeing tour starts by visiting the imposing naturally fortified hill of the Acropolis. The tour includes a walk that travels the visitors through ancient times in one of the oldest cities in the world, which was considered as the cradle of the western civilization, birthplace of the philosophy, the theatre and the democracy.

By passing the monumental gate of Propylaea you’ll see the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechteion and the Parthenon. You will enjoy the panoramic view of Athens and Piraeus port. At the foot of the Acropolis hill you’ll see the ancient theater of Dionysos (the oldest theatre of the world), the Odeon of Herodus Atticus and the Areopagus (Mars Hill).

The temple of Olympian Zeus is one of the most ancient ones since here was the place of worship of Zeus from the beginning of history. This arch was built by the Athenians themselves in 131 AD to honor the emperor Hadrian and to thank him for the completion of the temple of Olympian Zeus. Thankfully, the arch was completed on time, the day the emperor came to inaugurate the temple! This gate had another function. It commemorated the boundaries of the city, after its expansion and included the area of Zappeion, the National Garden and Syntagma. This new district was established by Hadrian himself. This event is mentioned in the two inscriptions carved on the arch. On the side of the old city the inscription says: Here is Athens, the former city of Theseus. On the side of the new district another inscription says: Here is Hadrian's city and not Theseus'.

There are no ruins. This stadium was not rebuilt during modern times. However, in 1896, during the first modern Olympic Games, there were works for the renovation of its marble covering.
