Cretan Cooking Class

All dishes are cooked with pure Cretan products,such as olive oil, wine, cheese, meat, fresh vegetables etc. Our local cooks will educate the visitors about herbs and ingredients used in the recipes as well as their nutritional benefits to our health.

The tour starts by visiting a unique olive oil mill in Kolymvari where will take place the olive oil tasting in two different ways. The expert there will explain to you everything concerning the extraction and production of olive oil.The arrival at “Nippos” village will be around 11:00, were will precede a short walk through the village. The end up will be at the traditional kafeneio, where you will enjoy the first glass of raki. Mrs. Despoina, a lovely cook, will be waiting for you. Suit up and be impressed by the quality of the organic products. You will use products literally picked up from the backyard and you will learn how to make delicious ntako, tzatziki, lachanontolmades, gemista (stuffed vegetables with rice and herbs) and a Greek salad. Also, you will learn how to make the traditional "phyllo" dough, creating the famous Cretan cheese pies and cook them.
After the cooking ends, lunch follows with the main dish is usually chicken and potatoes in tomato sauce, a typical dish in every Cretan household. All this of course with unlimited raki, and bfood stories. The dessert will be according to the Cretan diet meaning fresh fruit, yogurt with honey or traditional spoon sweet.
