Deep Water Solo in Kalymnos

Deep water soloing is a return to childhood with that sense of freedom that made you climb trees in a carefree way. Climb over the sea surrounding by the beautiful bay of Vathy is unforgettable! Unless you are Alex Honnold you will probably end up in the sea, so be prepared to swim!

Itinerary

We meet up at Sofrano and we take my van to go to the arbor of Vathy (Rina), there is 20 km.

The activity is climbing over the sea so we wear swimming suit, you will go in the water at the end of the traverse or maybe earlier!
You need climbing shoes. We wear them at the beginning of the traverse which start at the end of the small arbor.
This activity is a combination of two types of climbing above the sea: a traverse (horizontally) and a cave( vertically).

The traverse «Socratic lesson»
The difficulty of the traverse is around 5b/c and there are small passages a little bit harder (6a+). If you fall, you swim few meters, avoid the difficulty and climb up on the rock easily.
The traverse is around 350 meters but we can stop at any moment.
The duration of the activity depends on your speed of climbing, it's between 1 hour and half and 2 hours and half.
To come back we have to swim along the shore to return to the arbor. You must have the ability to swim 300 meters.

Diaskalos cave
We need to rent a boat or kayaks (not included in the price, around 50€) to go to the cave. There are 6 boulder problems between 5c and 8a (2 6a, 2 7b). The height is 8 meters. We stay around 2 hours.
