The ultimate summer hike (half day activity)!

Our hike begins at Exochori at an elevation of 450 m. We come to Dumbitsia plateau after a 2.5 km uphill walk with commanding views over the gorge. Taygetos summit (2407m) and Chalasmeno Peak (2203m.) dominate the distant horizon and, together with the lush vegetation, compose a uniquely wild landscape.

We move on downhill through a forest with heavy shade to end up in the dry riverbed of the gorge itself. The return to Exochori and end of the hike is via the ancient trail that connected Sparta to Kardamili.

We can arrange to have lunch in a traditional kafenion in a village up in the mountain at the end of the hike. This is not included in the price. Just inform us if you want a snack or a proper meal.

Doubitsia is a wild life refuge (designated Natura site) that towers above awesome Viros gorge! The hike is around 4-5 hours in shady conditions and it is suitable for adults in fair to good fitness level. Taygetos and Chalasmeno mountains dominate the distant horizon and together with lush vegetation compose a unique wild landscape! Most of the walking is in shade conditions, which makes it perfect for a summer hike!
