Ikaria Canyon Tour Wine Tasting and Multi-Course Meal

Dive deep into nature by following a hiking trail that leads you to the Chalaris canyon. Explore the natural herbs that line your path until you reach a breathtaking viewpoint on the canyon’s hillside. Enjoy a relaxing picnic with local Ikarian delicacies as you take in the river views in this serene setting and let the natural aromas, textures, and colors overwhelm your senses. Continue your nature quest as you hike back to the Afianes Winery where you will be greeted with refreshments and given a tour of the winery and guided through a wine tasting session. Discover the cultural area of the estate, the “pithostasi” where wine is fermented and aged in clay jars, the granite press, and the pirate stone house. End your day with a multi-course family style lunch or dinner at the winery as you relax and take in the view.

Start at the Afianes Winery where you will be greeted by your tour guide and given a brief overview of your day. You can leave any items you won't need during your trail there as you will return to the winery after the hike. Head to the hiking trail that begins at the Afianes estate and takes you all the way to a fantastic viewpoint on the Chalaris canyon's hillside. Your guide will show you the natural herbs that line its path. Once you reach the viewpoint you will be able to enjoy a light picnic with Afianes wine and local Ikarian delicacies. You can snap plenty of photos of the canyon as the views are truly stunning from that particular spot.

After the picnic you will continue your trail that will lead you back to the Afianes estate. Upon arrival you will be given some refreshments and a tour of the estate. You will visit the Pithostasi, where wine is fermented and aged in clay jars, the granite press, and the pirate stone house where the oldest wines of the estate are stored. You will also be taken to the cultural area of the estate where you can see and touch the ancient artifacts on display. After the tour ends you will be guided through a wine tasting session of 3 wines before settling in for a multi-course family style lunch or dinner at the winery.

Bottled water is provided for the trail and water and baked rusks are provided during the wine tasting.
