PELION - THE HOME OF CENTAURUS (Excursion for 2 or more)

Pelion’s preserved mountain villages are a joy. Clinging to wooded slopes high above the sea, they share a unique architectural tradition and are amongst the most beautiful in Greece. The old stone-built mansions, with their grey slate roofs and overhanging balconies, blend with their surroundings. Often the only sounds are a babbling brook or birdsong. Everywhere are trees, shrubs, plants, and flowers. We will give the travelers the chance to get the most out of this multi-experience trip.

Itinerary

Day 1: Portaria

Pass By: Mount Pelion, Greece
1st Day

8.45 Hotel Check-in (Portaria Village)

9.00 Departure for the Old Railway - Ano Lehonia

10.00-11.30 Ride with the Old Railway & Sightseeing

11.30 Arrival at Milies village. Walk & Sightseeing. Stop for coffee at the village square. Lunch in a traditional taverna with delicious local dishes. Full of old mansions, marble fountains and olive trees, Milies village offers the perfect harmony. It is the place with the beautiful famous cave where the mythic Centaur Chiron and his students used to live.

15.00 Embarkation and return to Ano Lehonia in order to return at the hotel at about 17.00

The evening is free for exploration of the Portaria village (walks, sightseeing, etc) This village is where the tourism of Pelion began for memories of former glories survive in Portaria, such as the magnificent mansions which were once the property of Zoulias, Athanassakis, and Kantartzis. There is also the lovely little 19th-century three-aisled basilica of Agios Nikolaos which has interesting exterior reliefs on the front. Like the entire region of Pelion, Portaria is really rich in waters and because of that is full of watercourses and waterfalls giving particular embellishing the village.

Day 2: Damouchari

Pass By: Damouchari Beach, Damouchari, Agios Ioannis 370 12 Greece
2nd Day

After Breakfast, we will start a Jeep Safari to admire Pelion's nature in its full potential. Fresh and green year-round, the peninsula is dominated by mountains reaching a height of some 1600 meters and covered with pine, oak, fir, plane, and chestnut. Views are dramatic, particularly on the northeast where mountains plunge dizzily to the sea.

We will reach a small harbor where we will embark on an airboat to visit the sea caves of Veneto. We have the option to do it with the canoe as well.

After our small adventure, we will enjoy lunch in a traditional taverna at the beach of Damouchari beach and then return to the hotel.

Free time during the evening and dinner at the hotel.

Day 3: Portaria

After our breakfast, we will check out from the hotel, do a little shopping at the small stores of local products to buy souvenirs and return.
