Discover Crete Travel Experience is a group of young, self-motivated and experienced in field of Tourism team from Crete, with a long term background in this area and excellent knowledge of different cultures from all around the world.
We like traveling a lot and we always try to experience the places that we visited as a local person would!
As a result, we like to focus on activities and tours that include interactive experiences for our guests and that they are nearly impossible to be accomplished if you are not a local and with excellent knowledge of the area, the people, the activities, the roads and products which are worth seeing in Crete.
So this brings us to the ‘’Traditional Crete-the modern way’’!
An activity that reveals and connects the history of Crete the last 200 years and at the same time introduces some modern aspects of tradition!
Gastronomy and culture meet together in this unique activity!

Crete is a place with long history, unique traditions and very distinctive gastronomy.
So, this activity reveals and connects the history, culture and gastronomy of Crete the last 200 years and at the same time introduces some modern aspects of tradition.
Our guests will visit a small, traditional and private folklore museum which includes many exhibits of art, culture, and everyday objects that were used by Cretans during the 19th and 20th century.
At the same place we will see a traditional distiller which was used and it's still in use in order to produce the local spirit which is called ''tsikoudia or raki''. We will also be provided with a detailed presentation of how this local drink is produced and how new and fresh ideas came from this and of course we will have a tasting (adults only) of this drink and its modern aspects.
Then we will sit in the table and enjoy all the great things that Crete has to offer.
We will taste traditionally cooked meat in the oven, fresh salads and local sweets that -if you wish- you can participate in preparation and have a small cooking lesson as well!
