Stop At: Archaeological Museum of Tinos, Tinos Town 84200 Greece

Tinos Museum was built in the 1960s at the expense of the Archaeological Society. It houses exhibits from all over the island, and especially from the two major sanctuaries: that of Demeter, dating from the 7th c. BC, and the Hellenistic sanctuary of Poseidon and Amphitrite.

Stop At: Kionia Beach, Kionia 84200 Greece

"Kionia" is considered as one of the most important places of worship of the ancient Greeks, coinciding with the foundation and prosperity of the ancient "Town" of Tinos, from the 4th century BC and on. It comprises the only place in the Cyclades that is exclusively dedicated to Poseidon, the sea-god.

Isternia Beach in Tinos is located 13 km northwest of Tinos town. Right below the picturesque settlement you will find this beautiful cove with wonderful crystalline waters and soft sand, which offer to the visitor an experience to remember !

Just the name (thick sand) prepares the visitors of this beach about what to be expecting. Here the sand is compact and darker than usual, the water is blue-green and the sand-dunes remind us of the desert. Apart from a pleasant swim, the location is perfect for playing games.

The works of the great Greek sculptor (Pyrgos 1851-1938) are exhibited in the Cultural Center of the Holy Foundation.

The artistic career of the sculptor is divided into three periods. The exhibition includes 19 works of the second period, among them “Satyr and Eros II”, V and VI, “Ariadne Sleeping”, “Angel”, etc. A first period work is “Affection” (1875) and a third period one is the “Annunciation in plaster” (1936).

"Panormos"

Panormos Beach is an old port of Tinos and the seaport of "Pyrgos" with the island "Planitis" in front of the center of the bay. There are several beautiful beaches around this port. The one in the cove with a little lake with ducks, turtles and other animals, attracts people due to this particularity but also because it is located almost inside the thorp with the white houses, the sea food taverns and the boats swaying in the calm water. On the left of "Panormos" there is a series of beautiful beaches, the most interesting being "Agia Thalassa". With its marvelous sand it is an ideal destination when the northern wind blows, because it is protected. On the right side of "Panormos" at a distance of 1 km, we come across the beach of "Rohari". It is a big cove with clean sand, light blue water and shadowy trees.
