Established in 1996 and located on Calle del Arco, La Antigua Galería de Arte is the oldest art gallery in Antigua. The gallery represents Contemporary art works of more than 30 established artists from Guatemala and Latin America. It displays artworks rendered in all the techniques: watercolors, oils, acrylics, mixed mediums, prints, etc. Explore the visual arts produced in the country, view one of a kind impressionist landscapes of the Guatemalan countryside, enjoy colorful abstract art, or fall in love with the wonderful portraits of the Mayan people. For the past ten years, Antigua artists Fabián Hernández, Jorge Morales and Joel Batz have been showing their works in their studio on 4ª. Calle Oriente. Their collection is so varied it gathers works that go from the charming cobbled stoned streets of Antigua and Guatemalan traditonal market scenes to realism and fantasy. This is also a cultural center which offers art lessons for children and other events to promote the arts in town.
