Congjiang and Zhaoxing are well-known for culture of minority ethnics.  This area is only 4 hours away by bullet train from Shenzhen.  From Hong Kong, transfer to Shenzhen North Railway Station by private coach or shuttle bus. Then take bullet train to explore mysterious Basha Village in Congjiang, and beautiful drum towers and flower bridges in Zhaoxing.

Day 1 Hong Kong to Shenzhen (By Coach) to Congjiang (By Bullet Train)

Transfer to Shenzhen North Railway Station. Take 4-hour bullet train to Congjiang. You need to change a train at Guangzhou South Railway Station. 
- IMPORTANT NOTICE -

(1) Deluxe option: hotel pickup in Hong Kong and transfer by a private vehicle.  Economy option: Take a shuttle bus from Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, North Point, Sheung Wan or Wan Chai

(2) Hotel room with breakfast has been reserved in advance.  Tonight you will stay overnight in the Basha village, 7km from Congjiang county. 

(3) Return bullet train ticket and shuttle bus ticket from Shenzhen North Railway Station has been reserved.

(4) No tour guide and transfer service will be arranged when you arrive in Congjiang.

Basha is a village 7 km north of Congjiang, it is reputed as the 'Last Gunmen's Tribe in China', for almost all the adult male villagers usually carry hunting guns on their shoulders and gunpowder bags, bullet bags and knives around their waists. Besides, the male villagers' distinctive hair dresses are known as the existing most ancient style in China. 

For the rest of 2 and half days, free time all by yourself. Taxi fares to and from hotel will be paid by yourself.  There is no service of tour guide or coach offered by your local suppler.  This package includes of hotel pickup in Hong Kong, 2-way train tickets and accommodation with breakfast only.

Day 2 Congjiang to Zhaoxing

Free time in Basha village. The village is built from a river valley to the mountain top. After 2-3 hours walking, you will have plenty of good photos of local life. Then you can take a taxi for 1 hour ride to Zhaoxing. The taxi service needs to be reserved one day prior with the hotel owner.  Stay overnight in Zhaoxing village.

The information center of the 'TangAn Dong Ethnic Eco-museum' at the top of the village holds the most comprehensive collection of culture & tradition of Dong Ethnic. 

Hiking from Tangan to Zhaoxing: Tangan village and Zhaoxing village are twin villages on different side of Longbao Mountain.  2 hours hiking time.  

Day 3 Zhaoxing to Hong Kong

Climb up the hill near Zhaoxing School at 5:00am, get a panaramic view of the villages, river, drum towers and rice paddies. Ask locals the sun will come out from which mountain before you set up your camera.

Later today you will take a taxi to Congjiang bullet train station for train to Shenzhen.  When you arrive at Shenzhen bullet train station, you will take shuttle bus to Hong Kong.  Bus runs every half hour from 07:30 to 19:00.  Please tell your preferred destination upon reservation:  Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, North Point, Sheung Wan or Wan Chai.
