6-days Aurora Borealis in Iceland - Roundtrip in 4x4 bus with small groups
Discover Iceland's beautiful scenery from all sides and be guided by one of the most experienced and local guides in Iceland. You visit the main sights, the beautiful waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers and drive with a 4x4 highland bus in a small group. In the evening it is possible to see the beautiful Northern Lights Aurora Borealis from our wonderful accommodations.
Itinerary
Day 1: The Golden Circle
Stop At: Thingvellir National Park, Thingvellir Iceland
Þingvellir National Park is almost regarded as a holy place in Iceland. This is where the Icelandic parliament was established in the year 930 and therefore it is of great historical, cultural and geological importance. At Þingvellir you can clearly see how the Eurasian and North American plates are drifting apart. You are literally standing on the border between Europe and America. Þingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Stop At: Gullfoss, White River, Blaskogabyggd 801 Iceland
Gullfoss is by many considered the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland. The iconic waterfall is fed by the second biggest glacier in Iceland, Langjökull and falls 32 meters into a canyon offering a spectacular view surrounded by walls up to 70 meter high.

Stop At: Geysir, Geysir, South Region
Geysir - one of the greatest natural attractions of Iceland and gave name to all geysers in the world. Geyser are a rare natural phenomenon and the original geyser is almost inactive today. But the neighbor Strokkur explodes approximately every 5-10 minutes with a 20-40-meter-high water fountain.

Day 2: The beautiful south coast
Stop At: Seljalandsfoss, Hella Iceland
At Seljalandsfoss, you have the opportunity to walk behind the waterfall, which is a unique experience. The waterfall falls out of the rock with enormous force and forms a deep lake at the bottom.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Skogafoss, Skogar Iceland
Further east we stop at a great photo spot, namely the 25-meter-wide waterfall Skogafoss. Here you can go up about 60 meter and enjoy a fantastic view.

Stop At: Reynisfjara Beach, Route 215, Vik Iceland
The journey continues along the south coast, stopping at the dramatic black beach, from where you can look up to Iceland's southernmost tip Dyrholaey - home of the puffin (Lundi) in the summer. The waves have forged the coast over time and on the black beach, which consists of basalt sand, you have the opportunity to come very close to the above-ground basalt columns. Explore the caves in the black cliffs but watch out for high waves that hit the beach and can lead an inattentive person to the open sea. Of course, our professional guide will adapt and give the correct instructions.

We stop at Vik for lunch and break. You can visit the Icewear shop in Vik or just take a cup of coffe

Stop At: Eldhraun, Iceland
From Reynisfjara we continue our journey east through the mighty and enchanting lava field Eldhraun and the vast and breathtaking alluvial soil of Skeidarársandur. A wonderful contrast of the landscape. Here you can learn more about the volcanic eruption in 1783 - Laki, which destroyed almost all of Iceland. The king of Denmark considered whether the entire island should be evacuated.

Stop At: Glacier Lagoon, Skaftafell National Park Route 1, Jokulsarlon 781 Iceland
The day ends at the glacier lagoon Jokulsarlon. Here you can see the largest European glacier Vatnajökull in the background, where icebergs break off and floats into the Atlantic Ocean. Admire the many large and small lumps of ice that float in the crystal-clear azure waters. Due to the contact with the Atlantic salt water one develops the famous "Blue Ice".

Stop At: Diamond Beach, Diamond Head Drive Glacier Lagoon Jokulsarlon, Jokulsarlon Iceland
As you walk from the lagoon to the shore, you are greeted by the beautiful Diamond Beach. Here some of the smaller and crystal-clear lumps of ice float along the black lava beach, and when sparkling in the sunshine they are reminiscent of diamonds - hence the name Diamond Beach.

Day 3: Glacier Adventure - East Coast - Egilsstadir
Stop At: Vatnajokull Glacier, Vatnajokull National Park Iceland
We start the day 9.30 am at Jokulsarlon with a unique natural phenomenon and a breathtaking glacier adventure. We explore the blue ice cave at Breidarmerkurjokull - an incredible and unforgettable experience.

Stop At: Hofn, Hofn, East Region
Afterwards we continue our journey to the east coast of Iceland and drive through the old fishing village Höfn and stop for lunch.

Stop At: East Region, East Region
We drive through the new tunnel under Almannaskard. This is Iceland's oldest geological area with cliffs between 16 and 20 million years old.
On our way to our next accommodation, we stop in several places and explore the area around Iceland's oldest geological east coast.

Day 4: Spectacular volcanic landscapes around the Myvatn
Stop At: Litlanesfoss, Route 931 Hengifoss Trail, Egilsstadir Iceland
After breakfast we drive past the Lagarfljot lake and tell you the story of the secret of the Lagarfljot worm, our version of Nessie the Loch Ness monster. Nearby we find the majestic waterfalls Hengifoss and Litlanesfoss and take a lovely hike for approximately 1½ hours. Hengifoss (128 meters) is the second largest waterfall in Iceland and the colorful rock structure, which shows layers of volcanic eruptions makes it unique and photogenic,

Stop At: Dettifoss Waterfall, Lake Myvatn Iceland
From there we drive through the wasteland of Möðrudalsheiði, the home of the reindeer, and further north to Dettifoss - Europes most powerful waterfall. (If there is heavy snow, it is not possible to drive to the waterfall).

Stop At: Viti Crater, Road 863, Lake Myvatn Iceland
After this impressive sight, the tour continues to the Krafla volcano system where you get really close the Viti-crater.

Stop At: Námaskard, Iceland
We visit Námaskard which is a hot sulfuric mud springs and steam vents.

Stop At: Grjotagja Cave, Road 1, Reykjahlid, Lake Myvatn Iceland
Our guide will take you inside the cave and tell you how we used to bath in this amasing cave.

Stop At: Dimmuborgir Lava Formations, Lake Myvatn Iceland
The home of the Elf¨s Dimmuborgir is a beautiful lava formation and we will take a short walk in the lava field.

Stop At: Myvatn Nature Baths (Jardbodin vid Myvatn), Jardbadsholum, Lake Myvatn Iceland
Along the way, we stop at Myvatn nature bath where you can relax in the lovely warm geothermal water.

Day 5: Godafoss, Waterfall of the Gods - Akureyri - Blondos
Stop At: Godafoss, Akureyri Iceland
You start the day with a visit to one of Iceland's true natural treasures and one of Iceland's largest waterfalls - Goðafoss. Godafoss is also called the waterfall of the gods because of its unusual beauty. It has long been known as one of the most beautiful places in Iceland. When the water is high enough there are often other waterfalls that make this place even more magical.

Stop At: Akureyri, Akureyri, Northeast Region
After this fantastic sight we continue to Akureyri, the second largest city in Iceland. Akureyri is a charming city in itself and is often referred to as the capital of Northern Iceland. From there we drive to the accommodation in Blondos for a delicious dinner.

Day 6: Iceland's oldest horse farm Sturlu-Reykir - Deildartunguhver - Hraunfossar
Stop At: Grabrok Crater, Road 1 33 km north of Borgarnes, Bifrost, Borgarbyggd Iceland
Our first stop on the way back to Reykjavik is at Grabrok. Grabrok is a very old crater where you have a beautiful view of the mountains and the glacier Langjökull.

Stop At: Deildartunguhver Thermal Spring, Road 50, Reykholt Iceland
Next, we make a stop at Deildartunguhver - Europe's most powerful hot spring.
Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: Sturlureykir Horses/Visiting HorseFarm, Sturlureykir, Reykholt 320 Iceland
Nearby we visit Iceland's oldest horse farm, Sturlu-Reykir, and learn about the history of the Icelandic horse. The horse farm was the first, which used geothermal energy in Iceland and has its own hot spring in the backyard. Here you get the opportunity to go horse riding in the Icelandic nature or to drive on to Borgarfjördur.

Sturlur-Reykir offers top-quality Icelandic horses. Both for experienced and for beginners. Duration approximate 1 hour + introduction.

Stop At: Hraunfossar, Road 518, Husafell 311 Iceland
At Borgarfjördur you see Barnafossar and Hraunfossar. Hraun means lava and fossar means waterfall, therefore the name basically means lava-waterfall. This makes even more sense when you see this unusual and beautiful waterfall with your own eyes.
