7 Days Dharamsala - Dalai Lama home Trek

Dharamsala is situated in the Northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It lies on a spur of the Dhauladhar range in the Pir Panjal region of the Outer Himalayas; and commands majestic views of the mighty Dhauladhar ranges above, and the Kangra Valley below.
It is known as "Little Lhasa" because of its large population of Tibetans. The Tibetan government-in-exile is headquartered in McLeod Gan and Our challenge begins in Dharamsala, where the Dalai Lama and the centre of the Tibetan Community are situated, at the heart of the world’s highest mountain range. Our 5 day trek takes us through the Kingdom of Gaddi – a semi nomadic race who spends months wandering the high passes with their cattle. With spectacular views of the Dhauladhar Mountain Range.

Tour Highlights:
1) Visit the spiritual home of his Holiness the Dalai Lama.
2) Visit to the Gaddi tribe village and home during the trek.
3) Visit to hill top Kunal Pathrai Temple.

There will be our office person at Kangra airport, Gaggal or Dharamsala bus station with placard and your name written on it.

Tour Program:

Day 01: Pick up from Dharamsala airport or Bus station
Morning pick up from airport or bus station and transfer to the hotel. Dharamsala – the spiritual home of his Holiness the Dalai Lama. There we will be some free time today to explore this fascinating town, before we meet later in the evening for a briefing for the start of our challenge tomorrow.
Overnight: Hotel

Day 02: Dharamsala (Macloed Ganj) to Kareri - 2,070m (B, L, D)
Following breakfast at our Hotel, we take the transfer to our start point to begin trekking! Our first few kilometres are undulating until we reach Satobari Village, which is where we start our descent through pine forests to Ghere Village. We stop at a mountain stream to enjoy lunch – a great spot!
We continue after lunch with a steep ascent for about 2 hours to Kareri Village, where we set up camp next to the Laund River.
Trekking distance – approx. 12 km
Overnight: Camp

Day 03: Kareri to Bal Village – 2,330m (B, L, D)
After experiencing our first night under the stars, we continue ascending on a gradual trail passing through many charming villages, passing beautiful open meadows and pine forests on the way. We take a short descent to the mountain stream by crossing over a suspension bridge to stop for lunch, then ascend sharply afterwards to Bal village.
Trekking distance – approx. 12 km

Day 04: Bal Village to Triund – 2,995m (B, L, D)
Morning after breakfast, we start our trek by crossing over a bridge then ascending through rhododendron and pine forests for approx. 2 hours. We’ll soon come across the local ‘chai’ (tea) shop where we can take a rest and enjoy our surroundings.
All around us are the Gaddi Tribal people taking their cattle up to the high pastures of Laka and Triund. Continuing our ascent after lunch, we finally reach our camp on an alpine meadow facing the breathtaking snow-capped peaks of the Duala Dhar mountain range.

Day 05: Triund, Snow line café - Kunal Pathri Devi Temple (3350 Mts), then to Triund (B, L, D)
Today is a challenging ascent to Kunal Pathri Devi Temple, from there you will have the stunning view of Triund and Kangra valley beside Dharamsala and also you will feel Dhauladhar Mountain very close. After reaching Snow Line cafe then take up side trail to the left of Snow Line cafe follow the trail for about 35 minutes and you will be surprised to see meadow on the trail up in the hill. After a walk you’ll reach the temple of Shree Kunal Pathri. Later back to Triund.

Day 06: Triund to Bhagsu Nag. Transfer to Dharamsala (B, L, D)
Following our last breakfast in the campsite, we begin trekking over a grassy ridge which offers us lasting memories of the snow capped peaks that surround us.
Our trek continues with a steep descent to the Bahgsu Nallaha stream – we cross the stream by hopping over the boulders with the help of our local guides. We push towards Bhagsu Nag, which has a divine temple and natural springs which we can visit before taking the transfer back to hotel.

02 October: Dharamsala Departure (B)
Morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the Dharamsala airport or bus station.
