Arunachal’s Head Hunter tribes

The rare traditional practice that revolved around animism, used to show the supremacy, and used to be a mark of an incredible achievement, is left in traces these days. The headhunting tribes still exist in deep pockets of Arunachal Pradesh with remarkable tattoos they used to get as a reward after a successful head-hunting. Lush green forests, beautiful tribal culture and many cultural places on the way make this trip one of its kinds.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dibrugarh to Namsai

Stop At: Namsai, Namsai, Namsai District, Arunachal Pradesh
Meet our representative in Dibrugarh and drive to Namsai.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: The Golden Pagoda, Namsai Town Road, Minister Market, Namsai 792103 India
Settle in Namsai and head to visit Golden Pagoda and World’s largest Buddha’s statue made of bamboo.
Duration: 2 hours

Day 2: Namsai to Tezu

Stop At: Wakro, Wakro, Lohit District, Arunachal Pradesh
After breakfast, drive to Tezu on the way Khampti Monastery (Hinayana Buddhist). Visit Wakro village to meet the lovely Miju Mishimi Tribal ladies famous for their big earrings.
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Tezu, Tezu, Lohit District, Arunachal Pradesh
Visit the famous Hindu holy site Pashuram Khud and spend evening walking around in market of Tezu.
Duration: 3 hours

Day 3: Tezu to Roing

Stop At: Roing, Roing, Lower Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh
Drive to Roing post breakfast. Stop at Lama Camp, a Tibetan settlement area on the way. Visit the Tibetan monastery and meet the Miju Mishimi Tribal community. On arrival in Roing, visit the local market. Spend the evening at Idu Mishimi Tribal village. Spend overnight in Roing.

Day 4: Roing to Sibsagar

Stop At: Sibsagar, Sibsagar, Sivsagar District, Assam
After breakfast, leave for Sibsagar that would approximately a half-day of the journey. Relax for the rest of the day and stay overnight in Sibsagar.

Day 5: Sibsagar to Mon

Stop At: Mon, Mon, Mon District, Nagaland
Begin the journey post-breakfast that would include some stop overs. Visit Axom ruins, Shiv Temple and Konyak Morung (male dormitory). Stay in Mon.

Day 6: Mon

Stop At: Longwa, Nagaland 798621, India
After breakfast drive to Lungwa village, half of the village is in India and other half in Myanmar. Here we shall meet the king of the village, and then walk around the village and learn about the famous Konyak tribe, visit their houses and meet the tattooed males and females. And after lunch drive to Hongphui village meet some more headhunters. Overnight stay in Mon.

Day 7: Mon to Dibrugarh

Stop At: Jagannath Temple, Duliajan - Dibrugarh Road 6 kms from Mohanbari Airport, Dibrugarh 786010 India
After breakfast drive to Dibrugarh. On arrival, check-in at a hotel and visit the Jagannath Temple and walk around in the evening in the local market of Dibrugarh town. Overnight stay in Dibrugarh.
