this 16th century fortress is located closer to Yamuna River in Agra. This fort was built as a military base by Akbar and was converted into royal residence by Jehangir, his descendant. This fort was designated with the title of World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983.

Amber was once the capital of princely Jaipur state, and the fort the residence of its Rajput rulers. Maharaja Man Singh I, who led Mughal Emperor Akbar's army, commenced its construction in 1592 on the remains of an 11th-century fort.

City Palace is right in the centre of the Old City. The outer wall was built by Jai Singh II, but within it the palace has been enlarged and adapted over the centuries.
