Jaisalmer Fort locally known as Sonar Quila is one of the largest forts in the world. It was built in 1156 AD by the Bhati Rajput ruler Rao Jaisal, from where it originates its name. This fort is popularly known as the 'Sone Ka Quila (Golden Fort)' by the local people and is one of the most magnificent monuments in the city of Desert.

Salim Singh Ki Haveli was built in 1815 by Salim Singh, the prime minister of the kingdom when Jaisalmer was the capital. This mansion was not created with the help of cement and mortar- the stones are connected with strong iron rods. This mansion is famous for its distinctive architecture as it constitutes 38 gracefully carved balconies. The architecture of this mansion is inspired by dancing peacock.

A wealthy merchant named Guman Chand Patwa constructed this mansion complex, and the first of the mansions were built-in 1805. The whole mansion complex with all its grandeur grew up in the course of 60 years. This haveli comprises of 5 different palaces and is also known as the house of the brocade merchants.

Over two centuries ago the foundation stone of Mandir Palace was laid by Maharawal Moolrajji when the temples of Shri Ram and Shri Girdhariji were built along with the Palace complex around the temples. He and his successors subsequently made several additions to this magnificent Palace. The latest and the most beautiful portion of Mandir Palace known as the Jawahir Vilas was built by Maharawal Jawahir Singhji in the beginning of the twentieth century. Mandir Palace is well-known for its fine stone carvings. Its architecture is Indo- Saracenic : a blend of the Rajput style and some Islamic patterns that were carried to Jaisalmer through the caravans from Afghanistan & Persia.

As per the facts, the construction of this mansion started from two points at the same time. One can see elephant carvings on yellow stones, and intricately carved exteriors and interiors. A huge statue of an elephant made of yellow sandstones welcomes every tourist and shopper in this Haveli.

Gadisar Lake is one of the most famous tourist places in Jaisalmer which was built by Raja Rawal Jaisal, the first ruler of Jaisalmer. In the later years, Maharaja Garisisar Singh rebuilt and revamped the lake. The entrance to the lake is through Tilon-Ki-Pol, a magnificent and artistically carved yellow sandstone archway.
