Hiking the Himalayas A 5 day trip to the Himalayas from Kolkata-

India is blessed with the largest of Himalayas range in its country. Unlike Nepal, treks and hikes here are not so crowded and gives travelers a chance to indulge more into rawness and wilderness of the greatest mountain range of the world. Here is a basic 5 Day itinerary of hiking in the grand Himalayas in eastern belt of the mountain range. This itinerary can be included or added while your visit in Kolkata , Darjeeling or Gangtok.
Same trip in 3 days can be done , if air transportation is opted for. Tickets are cheap from Kolkata to siliguri in flight.
Coming to this region and not tasting the happiness of climbing himalayas or getting intimate with it, might be regret , you build upon later. Hence i highly recommend this.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kolkata to Siliguri by Night Train / Bus . We start in evening around 5 p.m for Siliguri. Overnight in transportation.

Stop At: Siliguri, Siliguri, Darjeeling District, West Bengal
We start our journey to siliguri in bus or train. It depends on the availability of seats, by which mean we will go and reach. Cheap flights ticket can be also arranged on extra from Kolkata to Siliguri on prior request.
Duration: 12 hours

Day 2: Siliguri to Maneybhanjan in car by 12 p.m. Start hike. 4 kms to Chitrey village. Overnight here at 8000 feet altitude.

Stop At: Chitrey, Mangber Forest, West Bengal 734317, India
After breakfast in Siliguri , we take a cab to Maneybhanjan. This is the base for hike. We are to start the hike by 2 p.m after light lunch. We trek through dense pine forest and reach Chitrey. We visit a Buddhist monastery and overnight here in a beautiful homestay. We are resting at a height of 8000 feet. This will help you in acclimatization.

Day 3: Chitrey to Tonglu hike. 8 kms. 6 hours trekking through forest. Overnight in Tonglu at 11500 feet altitude.

Pass By: Tonglu, Singalila National Park India
Today we hike 8 kms from chitrey to tonglu in about 6-7 hours. We reach at a height of 11500 feet. Views of 4 top mountains of the world can be seen here including mt. Everest and mt. Kanchenjunga. Overnight at Tonglu. A next morning sunrise at Tonglu is one of the best sunrise to be seen.

Day 4: Tonglu to Maneybhanjan descent, Maneybhanjan to siliguri in car. Siliguri to Kolkata bus overnight. Tour ends.

Stop At: Siliguri, Siliguri, Darjeeling District, West Bengal
Today we start for a long day after breakfast. Coming down from Tonglu to maneybhanjan. From Maney we transfer you to Siliguri. From where we catch train or bus for Kolkata back.
