Mumbai Half-Day Street Food Tour

Take your taste buds on a joy ride by joining this street food escapade. A guide will accompany you to the renowned places for local street food in Mumbai. Try lip-smacking local favorites, such as Pani Puri, Vada Pav, kebabs and many more. A perfect tour for the foodies, this finger-licking experience provides a great opportunity to relish the various flavours of Mumbai.

You will meet you tour guide at 5pm in front of Burger King near Churchgate Railway Station, your guide will be a pure Mumbaikar (local) who will have all the knowledge about the city and its different cultures and cuisines and above all will be a total foodie.

The tour will begin by taking a short walk to Churchgate Khau Galli (food street) where you will be tasting the most delightful flavours that Mumbai has to offer like Pani Puri (hollow puri, fried crisp and filled with a mixture of flavored water (pani), tamarind chutney, chili, chaat masala, potato, onion and chickpeas), Bhel Puri (puffed rice and Sev (a fried snack shaped like thin noodles made from gram flour) mixed with potatoes, onions, Chat masala and chutney), Dahi Puri (the round, hard, puffy puri shell is first broken on top and partially filled with the main stuffing of mashed potatoes or chickpeas, tamarind chutney and spicy green chutney. Finally, sweetened beaten yogurt is generously poured over the shell. Each dahi puri is intended to be eaten whole, so that the spectrum of flavors and textures within may all be tasted together)

After eating the most famous chaat of Mumbai, we will be tasting the most eaten fast-food dish in Mumbai, Pav Bhaji. Pav Bhaji has many variations in ingredients and garnishes, but is essentially a spiced mixture of mashed vegetables in a thick gravy cooked on a flat griddle (tava) served hot with a buttered soft white bread roll. The dish originated in the 1850s as a fast lunchtime dish for textile mill workers in Mumbai. We will also be eating the most delicious street food of Mumbai, and  the most favourite of all Mumbaikars, that is the Vada Pav (a potato fritter which is put inside a Pav (bread) with garlic and green chutney). Now after we burn our taste buds with all the different flavours and spices, its time too cool your taste buds with some delicious seasonal fruit shake like Sitafal (custard apple) or Chikoo (sapodilla).

We then take a kaali peeli (local) taxi and go to the most famous street food paradise for meat eaters, which is BadeMiya Street food cart. It is the most popular street food place in Mumbai. Here we will eat non-vegetarian dishes like Baida Roti (chicken and egg stuffed in flat bread), Seekh Kebab (minced meat grilled on a skewer),and other Assorted Kebabs.

After we fill ourselves with all the tasty non-vegetarian food, we then take a small walk to make some space in our belly for the desserts. We would be tasting the delicious ice creams made at the shop Itself since 1953.

We finish our street food escapade by taking a kaali peeli (local) taxi back to Churchgate Railway Station at around 8pm.
