Enjoy the flavours, fragrances mingling with the sights and sounds of food being cooked right out on the streets. Fresh tikkas and breads are cooked right on the spot in tandoors (coal fired clay ovens), sending tantalising aromas all around, almost like a conspiracy designed to make it impossible for one to walk away without having tried the fare on offer! Each place claims to have its own special “formula” for the food it serves, which is said to have been handed down for generations over several hundred years. Paranthewali Gali is a street named after the Parantha, fried Indian bread, and each stall is busy trying to outdo the other, with their servings of Parathas stuffed with a huge variety of offerings: peas, radish, cauliflower, paneer, keema, egg…the list goes on and on, each served with large dollops of butter and curd. Listen to the stories of the past as you end your tour at Jama Masjid, the grand mosque built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Following the tour, you will be dropped back to your city hotel.
