Join us in a walk through the city of Ponda, one of the most rich cities in Goa in terms of Heritage, History & Architecture. Ponda has been an important part of Goa's history, being a safe haven for Hindus fleeing persecution by Jesuits and the Portuguese in the 16th Century; It was ruled by the Marathas and the Portuguese for a brief period. However, Ponda continued to have a Hindu majority even during Portuguese rule, hence most of the major Hindu temples in Goa are found in Ponda, which we will be visiting, along with a couple of Masjids.

Ponda was known as Antruz Mahal during Portuguese rule. ('Antruz' is the Goan standard dialect of Konkani and Mahal means 'Palace').

We will be visiting several historical temples, caves and a couple of masjids of Ponda where you'll learn all about their history & architecture.
