It is often said that when the Mughals started building in India they started out like Titans making formidable forts and sprawling cities but ended up like jewellers creating finely intricate architectural wonders such as Baby Taj. This monument was built by the famous queen Nur Jehan for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg. Called baby Taj owing to its similarity to the Taj Mahal, it a quiet place alongside the river Yamuna with leafy green trees and a delightful sight at sunset.

The Mausoleum of Akbar the Great at Sikandra reflects a big irony of history. The greatest Mughal emperor chose a very humble design for his own resting place. The site was chosen in Akbars own life time but it was finally finished by his son Jehangir. The building is a four-tiered pyramid, surmounted by a marble pavilion containing the false tomb. The painted ceiling of the cenotaph is breath taking. It was restored in the early 20th century. Visitors are often surprised by the large herd of blackbucks that graze here.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Fatehpur Sikri is Akbars great imperial dream in red sandstone. It was amongst the biggest cities of the medieval world. Father Monserrate, a Portuguese visiting Akbars court was amazed by its sheer size. This walk follows a circuit that takes you through magnificent palaces and structures such as the as Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Panch Mahal, Khwaabgah, Daftarkhana and Anup Talao. It ends at the world famous Sufi shrine of Salim Chishti, where according to belief you can tie thread to make your wish come true.
