Madhya Pradesh (MP) has many UNESCO World Heritage Sites and has still preserved its beautiful past in the form of monuments. From one of Asia's largest mosques to a palace that resembles a ship, these architectural marvels make the state all the more picturesque.

Itinerary

Day 1: Bhimbetka Caves & Sanchi Stupa Sightseeing

Stop At: Sanchi Stupas, Sanchi India
The Stupas of Sanchi were constructed on the orders of Emperor Ashoka to preserve and spread the Buddhist philosophy. Sanchi has been protecting these beautiful and sacred architectural wonders, just the way these wonders have been safeguarding ancient history and art of the Mauryan period.

Stop At: Bhimbetka rock shelters, Bhojpur Raisen, Madhya Pradesh 464990, India
Cave paintings dating back to approximately 30,000 years. Rock shelters that were home to humans, millennia ago. And a rich flora and fauna surrounding these, indeed, make Bhimbetka a gift to us from our earliest ancestors.

Day 2: Gwalior & Orcha Sightseeing

Stop At: Gwalior Fort, Gwalior India
The fort has existed at least since the 10th century, and the inscriptions and monuments found within what is now the fort campus indicate that it may have existed as early as the beginning of the 6th century.

Stop At: Sas-Bahu Temple, Near Post Office, Gwalior Fort, Gwalior 47400 India
Built in the 9th century, the Saas Bahu temple attracts tourists and devotees alike. Contrary to what the name suggests, the Saas Bahu Temple does not mean Saas( mother-in-law) and bahu(daughter-in-law) but is rather a short form of Shastra Bahu, another name of Lord Vishnu.

Stop At: Gopachal Parvat, On the road from the top of the fort in Gwalior, Gwalior India
Gopachal Parvat is a famous for the 7th and 15th century rock-cut Jain monuments. The monuments are dedicated to Jain Teerthankaras - Adinatha, Mahavir, Neminatha and Rishanabhanatha - whose idols can be seen in a meditative posture. They are a part of 100 monuments located in and around the city.

Stop At: Orchha Fort, Orchha India
The small town of Orchha situated 16 km from Jhansi in Madhya Pradesh emanates an architecturally historicized complex called the Orchha Fort Complex. It was built in 1501 AD by Raja Rudra Pratap Singh of the Bundela dynasty. It is a manifestation of Rajput and Mughal architecture flamboyantly decorated with latticed windows, projected platforms and balconies and mirrors on ceilings. Built by the descendants of the Bundela Dynasty, the Orchha Fort complex houses several monuments such as the Raja Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Rai Praveen Mahal and also gardens such as the Phool Bagh.

Stop At: Chhatris Cenotaphs, Near Banks Of Betwa River Kanchan Ghat, River Betwa, Orchha 472246 India
These are 14 cenotaphs (or Chhatris) in Orchha are tombs, in memory of the Bundela kings and the members of their dynasty. They are located near Kanchan Ghat on banks of River Betwa. The cenotaphs have been bulit on the spot where royals were cremated. Some of these cenotaphs or Chattris are of Vir Singh Deo, Madhukar shah, Udait Singh, Jaswant Singh and others. Cenotaph of Vir Singh Deo is the most popular of all because of its unique architecture and beautiful design. Each Chhatri is a little different in design. The structures are triple-storied. Four chambers make up a dome shaped covering surrounded by small cenotaphs resting on columns.

Stop At: Chaturbhuj Temple, Near Laxminarayan Temple, Orchha 472246 India
Chaturbhuj Temple, dedicated to Vishnu, is situated at Orchha in Madhya Pradesh, India. The name Chaturbhuj is where 'chatur' meaning "four" and 'bhuj' meaning "arms" which literally translates to "one who has four arms" and refers to Rama an avatar of Vishnu.

Day 3: Khajuraho sightseeing

Stop At: Khajuraho Temples, Khajuraho India
The first recorded mention of the Khajuraho temples is in the accounts of Abu Rihan al Biruni in AD 1022 and the Arab traveler Ibn Battuta in AD 1335. Local tradition lists 85 temples in Khajuraho out of which only 25 temples are surviving after various stages of preservation and care. All these temples are scattered over an area of about 9 square miles.
