The famous evening prayer ceremony are held at Dashashwamedh Ghat everyday. The ceremony takes place on small wooden steps at the edge of the Ghat. seven young priests in vermilion sarong perform a synchronized aarti, it starts with Vedic hymns and as the holy chants reverberate in the air they blow a corn shell. Next is burning of incense sticks while simultaneously ringing prayer bells. As soon as the aarti comes to an end you are approached with the holy flame and full plate flowers. The ceremony marks an end when priest pours water in the river and chant prayers. This is followed by people offering lamps and flowers pots into the river. As the prayer concludes the lamps are immersed into the water. A belief goes here that before this evening prayer ceremony begins if somebody leaves a lighted lamp in the holy water of the Ganges, with a wish in his mind, his wish will come true soon. This act is one of the very simple yet very fulfilling and trusted.

Best way to see this night prayer (aarti) ceremony is from boat. That is why we reserve a private rowing boat for our every guest, which enables them to capture the best sight of this grand ceremony. A lot more to explore there would not be possible without coming and seeing it alive, a must thing to add when you plan to tour Varanasi.
