Nicknamed “The Gateway to Heaven” this mountain temple has become the top priority for everyone who’s on a mission to capture the most Instagrammable spots in Bali. Located 600 meters above sea level at the hillside slope of Mount Lempuyang in east Bali, the “Gateway” itself offers a backdrop of Mount Batur and will get you a feeling of reaching out to sky to catch a glimpse of cloud while breathing cold and humid air. It can take you up to 2 hours to get a picture at the gate (a trained guard will take it for you) and please remember to cover your shoulder (scarf would be fine).

Literally means “Blessed Water of Ganges,” this water palace was built and designed by Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem, the last ruling King of Karangasem (regent under Dutch occupation) in 1948. Tirta Gangga was created to improve the holiness of the spring water and to serve as a place for comtemplation, rest and joy for everyone. The 1.2-hectare palace comprises mainly of ponds, plants and sculptures mixing Balinese and Chinese style. The stepping stone and the fountain are the main spectacle but you can swim in the pond (which is regarded as holy) and feed the fish for great pictures and relaxation.

Stop At: Tukad Cepung Waterfall, Jl. Tembuku Dusun Penida Kelod, Tembuku 80671 Indonesia

Of all popular waterfalls scattered across Bali, Tukad Cepung seems to be the most virgin and it’s self-evidently magnificent. The waterfall is guarded by small canyon which takes about 10 minutes of walking down a series of stairs followed by wading through streams of water. The area makes for great photography, particularly at early afternoon when the sun ray seeps in mystically.

Located in northern Ubud, this famous paddy field was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site for being the embodiment of the Balinese irrigation system & agrarian societal code known as Subak. Take a walk on the slope across the valley and witness local farmers’ activities as they plant, monitor and harvest the rice fields, depending on time.
