Fort Rotterdam - the 16th century Gowa Makassar Kingdom's Fort - which was taken over by the Dutch in colonial era, to be renamed as Fort Rotterdam. It took 7 years for colonial power to finally rule Gowa Makassar Kingdom. The Fort is still standing on its original walls with minor restoration in some parts. The fort is now centre of cultural activities in the province and it houses a La Galigo Museum.

You will have chance to enjoy Maros Pangkep Geopark, it is a Karst Towers complex which houses many caves. Some of caves hold pre - historic Cave Wall Paintings. Recent study mentions that it is one of the oldest Parietal Art in the world.
