Built in the 9th century as a sanctuary for meditation, this Façade has carvings of menacing creatures and demons also includes central meditation cave, bathing pools, & fountains. Considered sacred due to 2 small streams that meet here, forming a river junction. Goa Gajah or Elephant Cave believed that ancient descriptions refer to the name of the area as Antakunjarapada which means elephants border in a rough translation. The giant face at the entrance, which has since detiorated, was believed to be originally that of an elephant.

Mas is the village best known for its long tradition of woodcarving , even though the word mas means gold in Bahasa Indonesia.
