The Negev desert - Tour 11.

The Negev desert is a long, narrow triangle of land. (refer to map in photo display). Its most southern point is the port city of Eilat on the Gulf of Eilat. on the east side the land falls sharply to the Rift Valley. On the west it merges into the desert mountains of the Sinai Peninsula. Over half of Israel's land lies in the Negev, but only a small percentage of the population lives here.
