The “Galleria Borghese” is one of the most famous museums in the world given the rich amount of unique artworks and masterpieces conserved within its walls, the majority from the Renaissance period.

The Galleria Borghese displays the Borghese collection of paintings, sculpture and antiquities, begun by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, the nephew of Pope Paul V (reign 1605–1621). The Villa was built by a famous architect, Flaminio Ponzio, who was insipired by sketches of Scipione Borghese himself. The villa, suitated on the outskirts of former Rome, was mainly used as a party mansion.

The Borghese Gallery museum, hosts a wide collection of sculptures and paintings by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Agnolo Bronzino, Antonio Canova, Caravaggio, Raphael, Perugino, Lorenzo Lotto, Antonello da Messina, Cranach, Annibale Carracci, Pieter Paul Rubens, Bellini, Titian.
