Stop At: Church of Saint George, Piazza Fra Giuseppe Andrea Rodio, 70010 Locorotondo BA, Italy

This monumental building, dedicated to St. George the Martyr, was erected between 1790 and 1825. What is most striking about the building is certainly its grandiose appearance: on the outside its figure rises in the center and above the houses; the neo-sixteenth-century façade, in the tympanum houses a relief depicting St. George with the dragon and at the two lower corners, the two statues of St. Peter and St. Paul, sculpted by an unknown local artist from the end of the seventeenth century on models clay provided by a Milanese sculptor.

Stop At: Chiesa di San Nicola, Via Giorgio Oliva, Locorotondo Italy

Erected in the years immediately preceding 1666 on the initiative of a Locorotondese notable, the small church is enclosed by the high surrounding houses which leave only the bare facade visible, of which the original hut-like shape with a veiled bell tower remains very little. The inner surface is largely occupied by a rich pictorial decoration of the seventeenth century.

Next to the civic library stands the splendid Morelli palace. On the magnificent Baroque façade of the early eighteenth century, the elaborate workings of the portal and the wrought iron railings of the balconies stand out.
