Discovering the Alps the powerful Toce waterfall

The most beautiful and powerful waterfall in Europe!

In the heart of Formazza Valley there's

the second highest waterfall in Europe: the Toce Waterfall with its height of 143 mt is of course the most beautiful leap of Alps.

We can admire the waterfall, walk near the dam and visit the tipical mountain villages.

Cascata del Toce  is a waterfall located in the municipality of Formazza in a place called Frua at an altitude of 1675 m above sea level.

The river Toce drops down over 143 meters with a wide at the base of 60 meters.

Cascata del Toce is considered one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the Alps , although human intervention has reduced the flow for most of the year.

Upstream of the waterfall Toce there is an artificial lake called Morasco which is used for generating hydroelectric power.

The waterfall is open only for a short period between June and September, recovering fully their natural conformation.

From the roadside in possible to walk to the bottom of the waterfall and enjoy the massive water wall that comes down.

On top of the waterfall there is a historic hotel (1863), from there we will have amazing view on the valley.

From lake Maggiore is possible to reach the Toce waterfall in one hour and half.

We will use a private minivan (pick up in the hotel at 9.30) and it is possible to have lunch in a tipical restaurant (not included).

Warm and comfortable clothing is recommended.
