Excursion to the Sinis Peninsula

Mountain bike excursion in the sunny Sinis Peninsula, cycling through the verdant hilly landscape, the cultivated fields, the olive groves and the vines that alternate ordered in the soil where the fragrant Mediterranean scrub abounds. The route will start from the village of San Salvatore, and then enter the maze of spacious but winding paths. These lead, through a climb on the hills that conceal the sea view, to a panoramic point. From there it will be possible to see the entire valley on the left overlooking the Gulf.

The area is currently an open-air museum and excavations are going on bringing to light more news about the past of this city. What can be seen dates back above all to the period of Roman domination or early Christianity. Among the most interesting structures are the tophet, the baths, the foundations of the temple and a part of the area with houses and artisan shops.
