Rebuilt in 1294, the Basilica of Santa Croce church is wonderful to get to know. With its 16 chapels, incredible frescoes by Giotto and Gaddi, as well as a relief by Donatello. It's here that lie the tombs of some famous Florentines like Michelangelo, Rossini, Macchiavelli, Galileo Galilei and others, plus a memorial to Dante.

One of the main squares in Florence is Piazza della Signoria. Since the 14th century it has been the political center of the city. Here you can learn about and admire the many buildings surrounding the pizza like the Uffizi Gallery, the Palazzo Vecchio and also the copy of Michelangelo's David.

Be wowed by the magnificent Duomo, otherwise known as Santa Maria del Fiore or the cathedral. You can see the marvellous Renaissance dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi from afar. Admire the gothic structure and learn how it was built on the site of a 7th century church.

Giotto's stunning Bell Tower stands tall in the main square. Completed in 1359 by Francesco Talenti following Giotto's death. If you get the opportunity to go inside, it can be climbed if you don't mind 414 steps. At the top you'll be rewarded with a wonderful panoramic view over Florence.
