Ravello

Founded in the 5th century as a refuge from the constant barbarians’ raids, who led to the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the city began to prosper thanks to the wool art and the trade across the Mediterranean sea with Byzantium. Under the Maritime Republic of Amalfi and the principality of Salerno, Ravello achieved its maximum splendor. It is located above Amalfi and is connected with it through a characteristic and colorful road, full of lemon trees, typical from this coast.
