You pass by the Porcellino (little pig) market on the way to the Ponte Vecchio, dating to the 1300s and one of the most recognized bridges in the world.The bridge affords a wonderful vista of the hills that surround Florence and your guide will tell you of the history of the bridge and how with the building of the Vasari Corridor there was a significant change to the many shops that line the bridge.

It is then on to what was the political centre of Renaissance Florence, Piazza della Signoria. The offices of the Grand Dukes of Florence were once housed in the building that is now the Uffizi and the seat of the Florentine government was on the opposite side of the square in the Palazzo Vecchio.
