Private Tour of the Godfather Savoca and Forza d'Agrò with Cecilia the legendary Fiat 500
One day I had the pleasure of chatting with Signora Maria, the legendary owner of Bar Vitelli. While I was drinking a "do parrinu" coffee and a lemon granita with sesame biscuits, Mrs. Maria told me about her great friendship with the Italian-American director Francis Ford Coppola. He met him for the first time when he had to look for an alternative place in Corleone to shoot the film The Godfather Second Part. And the director chose Savoca.
It was 1971. Since then Signora Maria helped the famous director organize everything: the procession, the setting up of the restaurant, the lunch, the search for extras. At every birthday of Signora Maria, the director sent her a letter and some flowers.
Even after the death of Mrs. Maria, the legendary Bar Vitelli di Savoca continues to be the destination of all movie lovers and curious tourists who want to visit a bar-museum, full of newspaper articles, photographs, testimonies of the film.
