Through the eyes of a Craftsman - Discover Frosolone (IS)

Frosolone is a typically southern Italian village where many age old traditions still continue today, with ancient methods of knife making and Cheese production.

You will have an opportunity to watch local craftsmen labouring over a searingly hot forge softening metal to create scissors and knives beating them into shape with hammer and anvil, then visit a local dairy to see cheese being made using the same time worn methods which have been used for centuries.

Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by Michele, who will be your personal guide. He will lead you on a tour in the heart of Frosolone to discover the historic center and the monumental church of "Santa Maria Assunta". Then you will have the opportunity to visit the "Museum of Sharp Irons". Here you will undoubtedly be fascinated by the mastery of the local artisan that for centuries he have not only created tools but works of art using archaic methods with great skill. After this incredible experience you will visit the "Casetta del Pastore" where you will see how the famous regional Caciocavallo cheese is produced. Here you can taste a selection of local products including wine, bread and cheese. To complete the activities in the morning there will be a visit to the "Museum of costume and ancient equipment". This is a lasting tribute to the skills and work of local women who over time have created extraordinarily beautiful clothes and accessories by hand. Most of the items were made by local women for their trousseau which was part of their Dowry when they were married, and it was once an important step in their lives.
