Amatrice has a long history, traditions and customs that we must not allow to be lost. The Amatricians are tough, courageous people who are trying to get back on their feet with all their strength, but we must help them and not forget them.
Small shopping centers have been built in Amatrice so that shopkeepers and restaurateurs, who had their activities in the historic center before the earthquake, can welcome their customers. You should see how carefully they decorated their shop windows: they tried to do their best despite the spaces they may not have been in the past. We were very pleased, when visiting Amatrice, to discover many tourists who came to shop and have lunch in the area's bars: this is the best way we have to support those earthquake victims.
