Vatican and Surroundings

We walk along Via dei Fori Imperiali towards Piazza Venezia amidst temples, columns and monuments of the past. From Piazza Venezia we take Via del Corso, heading towards the Pantheon, founded more than 2000 years ago as a temple dedicated to all the gods and then converted into a Christian basilica. A few hundred meters and we enter Piazza Navona, considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world. At the center of the square stands the splendid fountain of the four rivers of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, overflowing with water and symbols. We leave the magnificence of Piazza Navona through the narrow Vicolo di Febo and along Via dei Coronari with its medieval joints we reach Ponte Sant'Angelo and, behind it, Castel Sant'Angelo. And here, in the background, the Basilica of San Pietro, center of the homonymous square, of the Vatican City and of Christianity. From here we begin our return, in a succession of monuments from different eras, traditions and curiosities that make Rome a unique city.
