Weave the colors of Umbria

I am Mariagrazia and from Lodi I decided to come to Gubbio where I became passionate about the art of hand weaving, which today is my job.

Weaving with the loom is a form of craftsmanship typical of the Umbrian tradition. In Gubbio in particular, the "Guild of Art of Wool" was large and powerful; proof of this are the imposing Logge dei Tiratori, which were used to dry woolen cloths.

In my shop, located in the splendid upper part of medieval Gubbio, you can see a large wooden frame for hand weaving; as well as discovering my artifacts here made with different types of yarn such as wool, linen and cashmere.

Itinerary

I will start by hand weaving, using a frame-box with which we will make a small tapestry inspired by the colors of our land: the green of the vegetation, the gray of the stone, the intense blue of our sky, the yellow of the broom .. .
You will be given not only the yarns but also small branches of plants typical of our territory, such as olive, oak, broom, which you can weave in your plot.
At the end of the experience, you can bring the tapestry made with you and, if you wish, even the small frame-cassette that you can reuse at home, continuing to weave the textures of Umbria.
