In the Middle Ages, Siena became an extremely important town, due to its intense demographic growth and the urban expansion of the town. Economic development brought wealth and bitter conflicts.

1656 was the year when the traditional Palio Race was started. From that moment it has been organized every year in the city, attracting tourists from all over the world.

9.30 am Departure from Florence or its vicinities.

10.30 am Through the beautiful Tuscan countryside approaching Siena admire the beautiful Florentine hills. We will guide you through the Chianti wine area. Then go up the hills of Chianti and arrive in Siena. Visit Piazza del Campo (Field Square) and see the the Cathedral (we recommend you to climb), the Baptistery and the Bell Tower.

12.30 am Departure from Siena to Chianti wine region and stop to visit Monteriggioni. Until the XI century Monteriggioni was a station of standstill on the Francigena Road in Tuscany. Siena transformed Monteriggioni in the imposing fortress to protection of the boundary north in the wars against the anemy Florence. We suggest you walk on the defensive walls.

1.00 pm Arrival at San Gimignano area and visit to organic winery where we stop for typical tuscany lunch and wine tasting at organic wine farm in Chianti (Vernaccia white Wine, Chianti Classico, Chianti Riserva, Brunello from Montalcino, Supertuscan, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Truffle Oil, Vin Santo with Cantuccini)

After the lunch and the wine tasting, driving along the Tuscany hills where you can see the different types of vineyards and olive grooves and arrive in San Gimignano.

02.00 pm Visit San Gimignano (the unique medieval city of towers). The town of San Gimignano, also known for its beautifully preserved medieval towers. 14 left out of 72 initially built in the 13th century. We suggest you climb the Torre Grossa (Bigger Tower) and taste the best Gelato in the world at Antica Gelateria di Piazza.

3.30 pm We go back to Florence where the tour would be end by 5:00 pm but only after making a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo for a panoramic appreciate the exceptional view of Florence
