1-Night 2-Day Room and 2 Meals Hike National Park Walk Toshogu World Heritage
Get away from the hustle and bustle of your travel and make the most out of the UNESCO world heritage and the beauty of Nikko National Park. Our small group tour combines freedom of self-exploration and ease of guided experiences. Our activity is led by an English-speaking guide. You dont need to make an arrangement for ride, accommodation or dinner/breakfast as they are already included.
Day 1: The UNESCO World Heritage Site Exploration
Meet us at the Tobu/JR Nikko and we take you to Kirifuri Waterfall and Kanmangafuchi Abyss. It is followed by a self-exploration of Nikko World Heritage Area including Shinkyo Bridge, Toshogu Shrine, Futarasan Shrine, Rinoji Temple
Day 2: Nikko National Park Guided Hiking
We take you to Yumoto Onsen. The guide walks you through Yunoko Lake, Yudaki Waterfalls, Senjogahara marshland, and Ryuzu Waterfalls. We also stop at Kegon Waterfall.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Kirifuri Waterfalls
Stop At: Kirifuri Waterfall, 1546-2 Tokorono, Nikko 321-1421 Tochigi Prefecture
Arrive at Nikko from your previous destination. We pick you up from the JR/Tobu Nikko stations for check-in between 4-6 pm. We also offer complimentary drop off at Kirifuri Waterfalls (optional)
Kirifuri Waterfalls: The 75-meter tall waterfall is one of the best 100 waterfalls in Japan. The Name Kirifuri means Falling Mist in Japanese is derived from the mist sprayed from the waterfall. This is one of the well-known tourist attractions. A walking path is available to an observation deck.

Stop At: Kanmangafuchi Abyss - Jiunji Hondo Temple, Nikko, Tochigi 321-1415, Japan
The abyss is formed by an eruption of the Mount Nantai in Nikko. A short trail runs along with the Abyss and the trail is known for a row of about 70 stone statues of Jizo, guardians for the deceased (Japan Guide, 2015).

Stop At: Shinkyo Bridge, 2307 Sannai Nikko Futarasann Shrine, Nikko 321-1431 Tochigi Prefecture
Initially built in 1636, the Shinkyo Bridge is designated as the World Heritage in 1999 and Important National Cultural Architecture of Japan. It was rebuilt in 1904 after being lost by flooding and recently renovated. The bridge belongs to Futarasan Shrine. Visitors can cross the sacred bridge for a fee (fee is not included). A slope across the road from the bridge is the entrance to Toshogu Shrine.

Stop At: Nikko Tosho-gu, 2301 Sannai, Nikko 321-1431 Tochigi Prefecture
Built in 1617 by Hidetada Tokugawa, Toshogu Shrine is dedicated to his father Ieyasu Tokugawa. The shrine is designated as UNESCO World Heritage and accommodates architectural masterpiece (UNESCO, 2015).

Stop At: Nikko Futarasan Shrine, 2307 Sannai, Nikko 321-1431 Tochigi Prefecture
The Buddhist monk who initiated Rinoji Temple also founded Futarasan Shrine. The shrine stands next to Toshogu Shrine. The shrine serves as one of the three sacred shrines dedicated to Mount Nantai: Futarasan Shrine; Chugushi by Chuzenji Lake; and Okumiya on top of Mount Nantai.

Stop At: Taiyuimbyo Shrine, Sannai, Nikko 321-1431 Tochigi Prefecture
Taiyuinbyo is the mausoleum of the grandson of Ieyasu Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third Tokugawa shogun. Iemitsu's lavish mausoleum complex resembles nearby It was intentionally built somewhat more modest than the Toshogu, due to Iemitsu's deep respect for his grandfather (japanguide.com, 2019).

Stop At: Rinno-ji Temple, 2300 Sannai, Nikko 321-1431 Tochigi Prefecture
Located to the south of Tosogu Shrine, Rinnoji was originated in 766 by a high ranked Buddhist monk called Shodo. In the 9th century, the temple attracted famous monks such as Kuukai and En-Nin. In 1653, Taiyuuin Mausoleum was built for the 3rd Shogun, Iemitsu Tokugawa.

Day 2: Nikko National Park Guided Hiking
Stop At: Yumoto Enchi Ashiyu Anyonoyu, Yumoto, Nikko 321-1662 Tochigi Prefecture
Relax your feet in the natural hot springs.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Yunoko Lake, Nikko 321-1662 Tochigi Prefecture
This is a lake surrounded by mountains. Visitors can observe where hot spring water comes out to the lake. The guide takes you through tree tunnels and Yudaki Waterfalls.

Stop At: Yudaki Falls, Yumoto, Nikko 321-1662 Tochigi Prefecture
The trail goes along with Yudaki waterfalls which is one of the 3 great waterfalls in Oku/upper Nikko. You can take some unique pictures where Yunoko Lake falls down as Yudaki Waterfalls.

Pass By: Senjogahara Field, Chugushi, Nikko 321-1661 Tochigi Prefecture
Enjoy the unique landscape in the highlands. The Senjogahara means battlefield. It is accompanied by a mythology that gods fought over the marshland that created the landscape.
Stop At: Ryuzu Waterfall, Chugushi, Nikko 321-1661 Tochigi Prefecture
This is one of the 3 great waterfalls in Oku/Upper Nikko. Ryuzu is translated as a dragon head and it appears as if a dragon head emerges in the middle of the twin flows of water.

Stop At: Kegon Falls, 2479-2 Chugushi, Nikko 321-1661 Tochigi Prefecture
Kegon Waterfall flows out of Lake Chuzenji where lava flows from Nantai Mountain by the lake dammed a flow of Daiya River. This is the most famous of all the 3 great waterfalls in Oku/Upper Nikko. We will have a lunch break by the waterfall. Take the elevator town to have a close look at the waterfall. There are some shops and restaurants by the waterfall.
