Stop At: Omiya Bonsai Village, 267-1 Bonsaicho, Omiya-ku, Saitama 331-0805 Saitama Prefecture

Omiya Bonsai Village is a neighbourhood located in Saitama prefecture. This area has long been a top destination for many Bonsai enthusiasts not only in Japan but also around the world. In the past, many gardeners who created and took care of gardens such as the Daimyo Yashiki were living in Tokyo. Soon afterwards, gardeners specialising in Bonsai growing were also born. After the Great Kanto Earthquake (1923) many of these gardeners moved away from Tokyo in search of suitable land and soil for Bonsai cultivation. A community of Bonsai gardeners in Omiya Bonsai Village assembled. Till this day, this Bonsai village is known as the sacred and prestigious place of Bonsai cultivation. At the peak of its cultivation in 1935, there were about thirty Bonsai gardens, but now there are only five gardens. The community of exceptional Bonsai growers in Omiya Bonsai Village are committed to keep the Bonsai culture alive. Here, you can experience these five Bonsai gardens, each handling a specialized Bonsai.
