It is a famous temple which is the icon of Samurai culture. It once was a villa of retired shogun and transferred to a temple after his death. The main building covered with gold leaf itself is so beautiful which is next to none. In addition to that, the harmony with a pond and garden makes the scenery magnificent. This temple is rather small one for a temple in Kyoto, but its dry garden is well known as a representing Zen garden. Please sit on the veranda and gaze rocks and designed sand which lead you to a deep meditation as our ancestors experienced.
