Long long time age, a tsunami came to Minamisanriku, people who survived with no food to eat, they were despair, so they cut-off the paper, told God that they what something to eat, they need help. This is the origin of Kiriko.
After 3.11 disaster, Ms. Mayumi made kiriko with people in Minamisanriku, showed their spirits of never giving up and keeping protect their home.
Kiriko is not only a piece of paper, but carries peoples convictions.
Now, you could see many Kiriko Installation art on the street. It connects all people in this town.
Besides, Ms. Mayumi will tell you many interesting things about shrine, and Japanese religion. She will tell you what does the shrine mean, whats in the shrine, and the magical story happened in 3.11 disaster.
