Stop At: Sherkala Mountain, Shetpe Kazakhstan

During this tour you will visit Mountain Sherkala, which due to its color literally translates as Lion Mountain. Mountain Sherkala is the symbol of the Mangistau region, photos of which you will find everywhere.

Forty kilometers from Aktau is the 10-kilometre-wide, 40-kilometre-long Karagiye Depression, whose lowest point is 132 metres below sea level. It lies in the triangle of wilderness between the roads to Zhanaozen and Kuryk (on the south coast) and the shortcut that links them.
The most impressive spot in the depression is on its eastern slope, where the terrain rises abruptly to 200 meters. An observation platform halfway from Aktau to Munayshy on the southeastern road towards Zhanaozen gives a magnificent view over the area in clear weather.

Stop At: Torysh - Valley of Balls, Near The Town, Shetpe Kazakhstan

Close to the town of Shetpe in Western Kazakhstan lies the Valley of Balls – or Torysh, as it is known in Kazakh. It consists of numerous ball-like rock formations strewn across a wide range of steppe land. The balls range in size from tiny marble-like rocks to huge boulders the size of a car.

Stop At: Cave-Ata Mosque Shakpak, Taushyq Kazakhstan

The Shakpak-Ata necropolis (10th-13th centuries) and the underground mosque are located on the Tupkaragan Peninsula. The design of the mosque is unique in Kazakhstan and resembles some of the early Persian mosques and the Shir-Kabir mosque-mausoleum in Dehistan (Turkmenistan), also dating from about the same time.
