Itinerary

Day 1: Almaty-Altyn Emel National Park-Aktau Mountains-Katutau Mountains-Basshy Village

Stop At: Altyn Emel National Park, Kazakhstan
The road from Almaty to the Altyn Emel National Park, one of such wonderful places and the biggest national natural park in Kazakhstan, takes about 4 hours in total. You will arrive to the Basshy village around 11 am, where you check in to a hotel and have lunch. After lunch, you will go to The chalk mountains Aktau, the traces of extinct subtropical plants, petrified bones of ancient animals, giant rhinoceros inhabited the Earth 20-50 millions years ago were found in the clefts. In the mountains, you can hike one of three roads of varying difficulty; your guide will select the most convenient option for you. Next you have a snack and go to the Katutau Mountains are the most arid, empty and dark, they differ by their steep slopes and numerous gorges. Day 2: Basshy village-Singing Dune-Zarkent city-Hot Springs Chundja region

Stop At: Altyn-Emel, Almaty Kazakhstan
Your second day start with a hearty breakfast. After you will go to Singing Dune, the state landscape nature monument and favorite tourist's sight, off-road for about one hour. At the Singing Dune, your guide will tell you the history of Dune and the legends associated with it. You will can to climb the peak of the Dune to see the sunset with a stunning view of the Ili River and the endless steppe. Then you can slide to the bottom to hear the Dune song. Upon returning to the hotel you will be waited for a delicious dinner and road to Zharkent city. In Zharkent you will visit the museum of the Chinese mosque and go to the Hot Springs. In the second part of day you visit the Hot Springs in Chundja region, a great place to relax and pleasures. There you will stay overnight at hotel with open area swimming pools. This is really a mini oasis in the middle of the steppe!

It's nice to sit in a warm outdoor jacuzzi in the open air after two days in dry desert. This area you will spend a rest of your day.

Day 3: Hot Springs-Charyn Canyon-Kaindy Lake-Saty village

Stop At: Charyn Canyon, Charyn National Park, Charyn River Kazakhstan
Your second third day start with a breakfast. After you will go to the Charyn canyon, road will take approximately 1,5 hours. Throughout the road you will see picturesque landscapes.

In the Canyon, your guide will show you the best view points and take you deep into the Charyn Canyon. After 3 km walk you can relax near the Charyn River and have lunch.

Returning back to parking you will go to the Kaindy Lake.

Stop At: Lake Kaindy, Saty Kazakhstan
Next you visit the youngest and mysterious lake in Kazakhstan. Road from Charyn Canyon will take approximately 3 hours, via stop in Saty village for the lunch. Kaindy Lake enchants with its appearance and color of the water, the flooded forest looks impressive from a panorama. To reach the lake, you will need to walk through the Tien Shan coniferous forest about 30 minutes, where you will be filled with fresh air and will be able to pick berries. Your guide will take you to the lake and tell the story of the origin of this natural wonder of nature.

After Kaindy Lake, you will take about 40 minutes along the mountain road to the Saty village, where you will check in to the guest house and can enjoy a traditional homemade dinner at the house of local residents. Also you can see the life of local residents.

Your fourth day start with a breakfast in the guest house. After eating breakfast, you will go to Lake Kolsai 1, where you will start the walk to Lake Kolsay 2. The length of the road is 7 kilometers in one direction (you can also take a horse ride to Lake Kolsay 2, paid additionally) You will have about 3 hours walk among coniferous forest trees, Alpine meadows, along a mountain river and wildlife. At Lake Kolsay 2, you can take a lunch with an unforgettable view of the mountain lake and spend your free time. You will be given lunch boxes, please prepare backpacks to carry them with you. After enjoying the lake you will return to the parking and go to the Guest House.

Your fifth day will start with a breakfast in the guest house. Then you will drive to the Karkara mountain border, beautiful border located at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. In this place you can see the peak of Khan Tengri. Here you will cross the border and drive to the Karakol city. In Karakol you will have lunch in a national restaurant. After lunch, in an hour you will drive the Zhety Oguz mountain gorge where you can enjoy beautiful views of the red mountains and the mountainous valley. After a short walk you will go to Kadji Say. The road will go to the length of Issyk Kul lake with an amazing view of the lake. In the hotel you will have dinner and enjoy the sunset on the lake.

The approximate time of climbing the waterfalls is 3 hours. Afterwards you can enjoy your lunch in the mountain gorge. Then you will go to an altitude of 3800 meters at sea level, where located a valley of glaciers with many beautiful lakes. After a short walk you will return to Kadji Say where you can enjoy an evening swim in Issyk-Kull Lake and dinner.

The eighth day you will start with breakfast at the hotel. After you will go to Tamgaly Petroglyphs.This day gives you a wonderful opportunity not only to get acquainted with the most beautiful natural landscapes of the Almaty region, but also plunging into the distant past, to see the petroglyphs of the archaeological landscape of Tamgaly, one of the most ancient and outstanding monuments of rock art of the Seven Rivers, which since 2004 has been the object of the World heritage of UNESCO. You will take a walk inside Tamgaly and will have a lunch.
