Climbing Mount Kenya - Chogoria Route 3 Days 2 Nights

The Chogoria route is our recommended and arguably the most magnificent ascent route to the summit area. It is the driest route up the mountain and the walk beside the Gorges Valley truly spectacular.

Itinerary

Day 1: NAIROBI - CHOGORIA - MOUNT KENYA

Pass By: Mount Kenya National Park 10400 Kenya
Meet in Nairobi CBD and head to Tearoom along Accra road {Meru/Chogoria shuttle terminus} at 7:30 am and drive to Chogoria town. After arrival we replenish our mountain supplies from the local market as you have your hot lunch from the cafeteria. We will load the supplies with our mountain cook to our vehicle to Mt. Kenya Bandas Lodge. We start the ascend through Mutindwa market, forest gate to the park gate before checking in at the Bandas lodge 2950 m a.s.l. where a hot shower awaits you. Dinner will be served while enjoying log fire within the comfort of your cottage. Occasionally you peep out of your verandah for wild animals which pay you a visit.

Day 2: MOUNT KENYA

Stop At: Mount Kenya National Park 10400 Kenya
After breakfast, hike for 9 km towards road head 3,300 m a.s.l, proceed to Lake Ellis 3,600 m a.s.l You need your camera to help keep the spectacular panoramic sceneries of Mugi, Ithangune and the Giant Billiards Table, and not forgetting the main peaks. You will gain an elevation up to 600 m. We get time to have snacks/ packed lunch. Bushwack to Road head and ultimately to Nithi falls. Descend to the floor of the falls while enjoying the continuous flow and the roaring. We hike back to bandas lodge for a deserving hot shower. A hot meal will lead a soothing night sleep.

Day 3: MOUNT KENYA - NAIROBI

Soon after breakfast, we board our transfer vehicle to Chogoria town to mark the end of our trip. We toss a cup coffee/ soda to celebrate successful accomplishment of our excursion before proceeding to the next destination.
