3 Cultural Village Tour (Full Day Tour with Trekking)

Full day excursion visits fascinating local villages, see local heritage preservation, sample the local culture and experiencing the local’s daily way of life. Part trekking where you will walk 2km medium terrain on a dirt road, overlooking lush mountains and the small river below. See the hard working farmers and take part in their daily life of the rice farm and blacksmith activities, see the buffalo farm and try harvesting river weed and fern plants. During the village visits our guide will introduce you to some traditional customs of the Khmu people and explain the differences between three biggest ethnic groups in Laos. The villagers are constantly building and are always curious of the visitors. Tour includes spectacular mountain and jungle scenic views and villages. Please note timings and activities may vary depending on the weather conditions, activities are seasonal and may defer to other alternative activities. Walking shoes or strong trainers recommended.

Itinerary

Stop At: Pakbeng, Pakbeng, Oudomxay Province

Breakfast: Head 17 km to Ban Kham which hosts traditional bamboo houses built on stilts above the ground. People live on the first floor of houses raised on timber stilts. Under the house the family keep animals, craft equipment such as a loom and simple food processing machines like large wooden mortars and pestles, a tradition dating back many years. Here you can have a go at panning for gold.
Afternoon: Visit Pakbeng town featuring small cafes, restaurants and a couple of bars. The coffee shops are a must to visit. Here the local people will greet you and advice you on their culture. Sample the freshly made baguettes or chocolate muffins whilst relaxing with a coffee and watching the daily flow of foot traffic. Free time to relax by the infinity swimming pool.
