Half Day: Mekong Cruise to Pak Ou Caves and Local Village with Buffet Lunch

Explore Laos’ one of the most respected holy sites Pak Ou Caves on this half-day river cruise. We depart Luang Prabang boat pier in the morning. Float down the Mekong river and see many scenery of countryside. We will enjoy a 3-hour morning boat trip.

Stopping by a local village "Ban Xang Hai" for tasting their unique homemade local rice whisky and rice wine.

A local tour guide will accompany throughout the tour. Tour guide will explain the history and culture of Pak Ou Caves. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Afterward, we enjoy buffet lunch at the restaurant overlooking the Mekong surrounded by tropical forests. Return to Luang Prabang city by minivan at 2:00 pm

Stop At: Pak Ou Caves, Near Pak Ou the Tham Ting, Ban Pak-Ou 0603 Laos

These two caves are located some 25km from Luang Prabang where the Nam Ou River flows into the Meking. The journey on a slow moving longboat to caves is decidedly picturesque. Motoring upriver you can see locals fishing and listen to the joyful laugher of children splashing in the water. The caves are revered throughout Laos and a very popular place for tourists and pilgrimsalike. There are some 4000 statyes abd statyettes in the caves, mostly of the Buddha, many stukk covered with paper thin gilding. The first cave is reached by a steep staircase from the river’s edge, while the second cave is a little deeper inside the mountain: bring a torchilight!

Stop At: Whisky Village, Luang Prabang Laos

A unique little village on the banks of the Mekong River. Ban Xang Hai is famous for their handicraft products like distilling and selling whisky, rice wine, hand woven fabric and jewelry.

You can see the process of making lao lao, the country’s beloved rice whiskey and for some maybe even an early morning sample!

The Old Quarter in Luang Prabang is the area on the peninsula that is surrounded by the Mekong River and the Nam Khan nestled between lush green mountains. The town was the former Royal Capital city and was designated an UNESCO world heritage site to protect French colonial architecture and traditional Buddhist temples in 1995.

Stop At: Manifa Elephant Camp, Xang Hai Village, Sang Ha, Laos

Have a buffet lunch at the restaurant overlooking the Mekong river surrounded by the tropical forests. You'll have a opportunity to see elephants free to roam around the Mekong river.
